ISLAMABAD: CM Balochistan to inaugurate three-day Balochistan Grand Tourism Festival today Islamabad: The vibrant cultural heritage of Balochistan will take center stage as the three-day Balochistan Grand Tourism Festival will kick off today (Friday) here at Lok Virsa, which will be formally inaugurated by Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti.
The opening ceremony will also be attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Tourism Nawabzada Mir Muhammad Zareen Khan Magsi, Secretary for Culture Shakeel Qadir Khan, and Professor Dr. Zainab Bibi.
Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club, Islamabad, Parliamentary Secretary Zareen Magsi said that for the first time in history, the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), and Lok Virsa are jointly organizing this festival to promote and showcase Balochistan’s rich and diverse culture at the national and international levels.
Balochistan is immensely rich in culture, folk music, arts, and handicrafts. Through this festival, we aim to present a positive and vibrant image of the province to the world,” said Magsi.
The festival will feature, Performances by traditional folk artists from Balochistan,Theatrical performances reflecting the province’s history and values, A special exhibition of Balochistan’s artwork and handicrafts, Panel discussion ,featuring notable personalities and cultural experts, Interactive sessions on key topics such as the Blue Economy of Balochistan and the province’s tourism potential.
Local and international scholars, policymakers, and officials will participate in discussions focusing on Balochistan’s natural resources, development, and tourism prospects.
Folk singers, poets, and musicians will present the works of celebrated Baloch poets such as Mast Tawakkali, Sheh Mureed, and Zahiran Baloch. The festival will also offer a taste of Balochistan’s traditional cuisine, including Sajji, Kaak, and local specialties from Turbat.
Magsi announced that similar festivals will also be organized in Karachi and other major cities to further promote Balochistan’s cultural richness nationwide.
Our aim is to showcase the peaceful, beautiful, and culturally rich face of Balochistan to the world. While the government is responsible for providing policy and facilities, our dedication is to bring forward the real essence of our province,” he said.
Also speaking on the occasion, Secretary for Tourism Balochistan, Suhail-ur-Rehman, stated that this is their 39th event organized within budget, underscoring efficient planning. He emphasized that cooperation between federal and provincial governments is essential to resolve long-standing issues and accelerate development.
The Balochistan Grand Tourism Festival will remain open to the public for all three days, offering residents of the capital an opportunity to engage with the diverse colors, sounds, flavors, and spirit of Balochistan. Syed Naveed Jamal
