ISLAMABAD: Aleema Khan, the sister of incarcerated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former premier Imran Khan, has approached the court seeking permission for Imran Khan to sign a power of attorney.
Through a petition filed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Aleema Khan has requested the return of documents submitted in Adiala Jail after being signed by the PTI founder.
The application was filed through Barrister Salman Safdar and other lawyers on behalf of Aleema Khan. The petition states that the Lahore High Court (LHC) has rejected the bail applications, and it is the PTI founder’s right to challenge that decision in the Supreme Court (SC).
According to the petition, signatures on the power of attorney by the PTI founder are necessary for filing an appeal in the SC. The lawyers had submitted the relevant documents to the deputy superintendent of Adiala Jail for signature, but the signed documents have not been returned.
The petition further states that the deadline for approaching the SC is approaching. The court is requested to grant permission for the power of attorney to be signed and direct jail authorities to allow the PTI founder to sign the document.
