Finance Secretary chairs budget review meeting for FY2026–27
GILGIT: Secretary Finance Najeeb Alam on Tuesday chaired a high-level budget review meeting in connection with the formulation of Budget 2026–27, bringing together key stakeholders to deliberate on fiscal priorities and resource allocation.
The meeting was attended by Director General Anti-Corruption Mir Waqar Ahmad, Secretary Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly Abdul Razzaq, officials from the Supreme Appellate Court, Communication and Works Department, as well as financial managers of the relevant departments. Officers of the Finance Department were also present.
Participants held detailed discussions on aligning departmental priorities with the available fiscal space, ensuring prudent utilization of public funds, and maintaining financial discipline. Stress was laid on realistic budgeting, accurate financial projections, and prioritization of essential expenditures.
Addressing the participants, the Secretary Finance highlighted the need for sound financial management, transparency, and enhanced inter-departmental coordination to ensure that budget proposals remain practical and sustainable.
The meeting concluded with a collective resolve to adopt a structured and responsible approach towards budget formulation, aimed at strengthening financial governance in Gilgit-Baltistan. APP
