PSX gains over 6,700 points
KARACHI: The benchmark KSE-100 Index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a strong bullish trend on Wednesday, gaining 6,768.25 points, a positive change of 4.55 percent, closing at 155,511.57 points against 148,743.32 points on the last trading day, according to PSX data.
During the session, the ready market recorded a trading volume of 670.867 million shares with a traded value of Rs 43.979 billion, compared to 434.958 million shares valuing Rs 22.541 billion in the previous session. The market capitalization increased to Rs 17.215 trillion from Rs 16.534 trillion a day earlier.
Out of 485 active companies in the ready market, 365 advanced, 67 declined, and 53 remained unchanged.
K-Electric Limited topped the volume chart with 78.566 million shares, followed by Bank of Punjab with 49.505 million shares and Cnergyico PK with 38.009 million shares.
The top gainers included Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited, which increased by Rs 117.28 to close at Rs 8,900.13, and Khyber Textile Mills Limited, which gained Rs 94.79 to settle at Rs 1,345.00.
On the losing side, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined by Rs 185.83 to close at Rs 24,101.17, while Blessed Textiles Limited fell by Rs 63.27 to close at Rs 815.74.
In the futures market, turnover stood at 151.241 million shares with a traded value of Rs 9.482 billion, compared to 99.789 million shares worth Rs 5.277 billion in the previous session.
