Guards threaten US universities in Middle East
TEHRAN: The Revolutionary Guards also threatened to target American universities in the Middle East.
They said US-Israeli strikes had destroyed two Iranian universities.
The Guards demanded that the United States condemn the bombing of universities by noon on Monday.
“The enemy secretly plans a ground attack,” Iran parliament speaker warns
TEHRAN: US-Israeli strikes on Sunday hit a quay at an Iranian port city near the strategic Strait of Hormuz, killing five people, Iranian state media reported.
“The American-Zionist enemy carried out a criminal attack at the quay of Bandar Khamir, killing five people and injuring four others,” the official IRNA news agency reported.
Two vessels were also destroyed, according to state media.
A series of loud explosions was heard across the Iranian capital on Sunday, with smoke seen rising from impacted areas in northern Tehran.
Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the United States is plotting a ground attack despite publicly engaging in diplomatic efforts.
“The enemy publicly sends messages of negotiation and dialogue while secretly planning a ground attack,” Ghalibaf said.
“Our men are waiting for the arrival of the American soldiers on the ground to set them on fire and punish their regional allies once and for all,” he added.
“Our firing continues. Our missiles are in place. Our determination and faith have increased,” Ghalibaf declared.
He described the US’s 15-point plan which Pakistan passed to Iran last week as “their wishes.”
“As long as the Americans seek Iran’s surrender, our response is clear: Far be it from us to accept humiliation,” he said.
“We are in a major global war at its most critical stage,” Ghalibaf says
TEHRAN: Ghalibaf called for unity among Iranians as the regional conflict entered its second month.
The war was sparked on February 28 when Israel and the United States launched air strikes on Iran, killing its supreme leader.
Shipping traffic in the vital Strait of Hormuz has been brought to a near-standstill by the conflict. Twenty percent of the world’s crude oil and liquefied natural gas normally passes through this waterway.
“We are certain that we can punish the United States, make it regret attacking Iran, and firmly secure our legitimate rights,” Ghalibaf said. Monitoring Desk
