Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United lack quality

LONDON: Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim believes his side lack quality, after the Red Devils were held to a 1-1 draw by the Premier League bottom team, Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Wolves secured just their third point of the season, snapping a 12-game losing streak, as Ladislav Krejci’s header cancelled out Joshua Zirkzee’s deflected opener. United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo are on the sidelines due to injury. At the same time, Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo are on their national duty playing in the Africa Cup of Nations.

“We have a lack of fluidity and then lack of quality and then lack of creation of chances, and then we suffer a goal from a set-piece,” said Amorim. “These details are important to win these games in difficult moments.” Despite a loss and a dent to their Champions League football chances next season, Amorim is confident that once his players come back from injuries, his team will not be easy to beat.

“I’m really confident. We just need to recover all the players, and I’m really confident. I don’t know what is going to happen until the end of the season. Then we will make the resume of the season,” Amorim said. “But I’m really confident when we recover all the players that we are going to be a strong team. There is no doubt in my mind.

“I think we recover the ball faster in the second half. In the first half, we struggled a little bit to recover the ball, so I’m just looking not for their age and experience. In this moment, I just look at what I can do to win the game.” The draw leaves United sixth in the Premier League table with 30 points, while Wolves remain bottom with just three points from 19 games.
