Salah apologises to teammates, says Curtis Jones

LONDON: Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah apologised to his teammates following his recent controversial comments about the club and manager Arne Slot, with midfielder Curtis Jones confirming that the situation has not affected the squad’s unity. Speaking in a Friday interview, Jones said Salah had addressed the squad to clarify his remarks, emphasising that the incident had not disrupted the dressing room and that the team remained united.

“Mo is his own man, and he can say his own stuff. He apologised to us and was like, ‘If I’ve affected anybody or made you feel any sort of way, I apologise’. That’s the man that he is,” Jones said. Salah, 33, had caused a stir after Liverpool’s Premier League draw with Leeds United on 6 December, expressing frustration over his recent treatment at the club. He claimed he felt ‘thrown under the bus’ and that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had broken down.

Liverpool, champions last season, currently sit seventh in the Premier League standings with 26 points, 10 behind leaders Arsenal. Earlier on Friday, Slot stated there were no lingering issues with Salah, who was omitted from the squad for Liverpool’s 1-0 Champions League win at Inter Milan on 9 December. “I said last week, actions speak louder than words,” Slot said. “We moved on, he was in the squad and was the first substitution I made. Now he’s got AFCON and will play some big games so it’s only fair that all focus is on them.” Web Desk
