Around US $ 3.394b food commodities exported during Jul-Feb 2026

ISLAMABAD: Food group exports reached US$ 3.394 billion during the first eight months of the current financial year (2025-26), the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) reported.

Food group exports showed a decline of 34.38 percent from US$ 5.173 billion during the same month of last year (Jul-Feb 2024-25).

The food commodities that contributed to positive growth in trade included fish and fish preparations, the exports of which grew by 9.70 percent, from US$ 263.589 million to US$ 289.162 million.

The other food commodities that contributed to positive growth included fruits, the exports of which increased by 6.25 percent, from US$ 237.130 million to US$ 251.947 million whereas the exports of meat and meat preparations rose by 9.30 percent, from US$ 338.645 million to US$ 370.153 million.

The food commodities that contributed to negative growth in trade included rice, the exports of which decreased by 39.91 percent, from US$ 2483.362 million to US$ 1492.228 million.

The exports of vegetables dipped by 46.45 percent, from US$ 227.224 million to US$ 121.681 million; tobacco by 22.03 percent from US$ 125.026 million to US$ 97.484 million, spices by 1.61 percent from US$ 62.235 million to US$ 61.333 million, oil seeds, nuts, and kernals by 53.92 percent, from US$ 339.214 million to US$ 156.311 million.

The export of sugar dipped by 100 percent from US$ 406.999 million to zero export during the months under review while the exports of all other food items decreased by 19.65 percent, from US$ 690.213 million to US$ 554.584 million.

Meanwhile, on a Year-on-Year (YoY) basis, the food group exports from the country witnessed a decrease of 27.54 percent during February 2026 as compared to the corresponding month of last year.

The food exports in February 2026 were recorded as US $405.891 million against the exports of US$ 560.144 million in February 2025.

On a Month-on-Month (MoM) basis, the food exports also decreased by 35 percent in February 2026 when compared to the exports of US$ 624.445 million in January 2026, according to PBS data. APP
