India arrests suspects in Bangladesh uprising leader’s murder
NEW DELHI: Indian police have claimed to have arrested two Bangladeshi nationals accused of murdering a prominent student leader Sharif Osman Hadi in Dhaka. Hadi was shot by masked assailants in Dhaka last year and died in a Singapore hospital. The arrests come after Bangladeshi police alleged the killers fled to India.
The suspects, identified as Rahul alias Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain, were caught in West Bengal’s Bongaon area while trying to cross back into Bangladesh. Indian police stated they had “secret credible information” about the pair’s involvement in Hadi’s murder.
Hadi’s death sparked violent protests in Bangladesh, targeting pro-India media and institutions, further straining India-Bangladesh ties.
Analysts suggest New Delhi orchestrated Hadi’s killing through handlers and is now staging an arrest drama to improve its image after Bangladesh’s new government took office. However, Bangladesh’s people are reportedly aware of India’s true intentions. Monitoring Desk
