Saindak delivers strongest performance year, reinforces Pak-China mining partnership
QUETTA: The leadership of Metallurgical Corporation of China Saindak Metals Limited announced that the Saindak copper and gold project has achieved one of the most successful operational years in its history. Speaking at a ceremony held in Quetta, the President of the company, Tan Jin, said that the year 2025 marked a decisive turning point for the project in terms of production efficiency, safety performance, institutional systems and the long standing partnership between Pakistan and China.
He explained that the achievements were the result of scientific planning, data driven decision making and a carefully designed system of implementation that linked operational targets with long term development goals. According to him, the company was able to stabilize operations despite a challenging security environment and logistical constraints in the region. He noted that every department of the project worked under a unified performance framework that emphasized accountability, transparency and teamwork.
The President stated that production and operational indicators reached unprecedented levels during the year, setting a new internal benchmark for the Saindak project. He added that, for the first time in the history of Pakistan’s mining sector, the Saindak project successfully obtained laboratory accreditation from China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment. He described this achievement as a strong reflection of the company’s technical competence, quality management systems and professional standards.
He said that international level accreditation would significantly enhance the credibility of testing and analytical results produced at the site and would also improve the company’s ability to collaborate with international partners, investors and technical institutions. The accreditation, he added, will help ensure that mineral testing, environmental monitoring and operational controls meet internationally recognized standards.
Mr Tan Jin further stated that the company had invested considerable resources in strengthening its safety and integrity systems. He said that workplace safety, environmental protection and ethical compliance were given priority at every stage of operations. A comprehensive safety management framework was introduced, focusing on risk assessment, hazard prevention, staff training and emergency preparedness.
He added that special attention was paid to cost reduction strategies without compromising safety or quality. These measures included improved maintenance planning, better utilization of machinery, optimization of supply chains and the adoption of modern monitoring technologies. At the same time, significant efforts were made to improve the overall condition of the site, enhance infrastructure and strengthen the corporate image of the company both locally and nationally.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Tan Jin highlighted that the Saindak project continues to serve as an important symbol of economic cooperation between Pakistan and China. He said that the partnership had entered a new stage of maturity, based on mutual respect, shared objectives and long term commitment to regional development.
He emphasized that corporate success should not be measured solely in terms of production volumes and financial performance. He stated that the company considers the fulfillment of social responsibilities as an essential component of sustainable development. During the year, the project supported a range of community initiatives in education, health and infrastructure in surrounding areas.
He said that through these efforts, the company has further strengthened the foundation of friendship and cooperation between the people of Pakistan and China. He added that community engagement programs were designed in consultation with local stakeholders to ensure that development activities respond to real needs and create lasting benefits.
