PM, UAE President pledge to enhance bilateral cooperation
Shehbaz says looking forward to working closely with new leadership in Bangladesh
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation on Friday with UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
During their warm and cordial conversation, the two leaders fondly recalled their recent meetings in Islamabad and Rahim Yar Khan last month, during the UAE President’s first official visit to Pakistan.
The Prime Minister lauded the UAE’s consistent and unwavering support to Pakistan that had helped the country navigate through difficult challenges.
He further said this support is a manifestation of the historic and fraternal bonds between the leadership and the people of both countries. They reaffirmed their shared desire to further enhance mutually beneficial cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE.
The two leaders also exchanged views on other matters of mutual interest and agreed to remain in close contact.
Meanwhile, in his congratulatory message, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said: “I extend my warmest felicitations to Mr. Tarique Rahman on leading the BNP to a resounding victory in the Parliamentary elections in Bangladesh.”
He also congratulated the people of Bangladesh on the successful conduct of the elections.
“I look forward to working closely with the new Bangladesh leadership to further strengthen our historic, brotherly multifaceted bilateral relations and advance our shared goals of peace, stability, and development in South Asia and beyond,” the PM added.
The BNP won a decisive two-thirds majority on Friday in general elections, a result expected to bring stability after months of tumult following the ouster of former prime minister Hasina in a Gen Z-led uprising. Staff Report
