Buledi calls appointment of female police officers a milestone
QUETTA: Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, Advisor to the Chief Minister of Balochistan for the Women Development Department, has warmly welcomed the appointment of female police officers to key operational and administrative positions across all districts of the Naseerabad Range. She described the development as a historic and transformative milestone for the province, stating that it reflects the provincial government’s strong commitment to gender inclusion and its complete confidence in the professional abilities, integrity and dedication of women.
In an official statement issued here, Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi expressed deep satisfaction over the posting of women as Complaint Officers, Deputy Moharrirs and Computer Operators in police stations throughout the region. She said that the induction of women into these important roles would significantly strengthen the internal working of police stations and help improve coordination, transparency and service delivery. The Advisor emphasized that the presence of female officers in police stations will play a crucial role in ensuring a safer, more dignified and welcoming environment for women who approach law enforcement agencies to register complaints. She pointed out that many women hesitate to report crimes because of fear, social pressure, cultural barriers or discomfort in dealing with male officers. By assigning women to frontline positions, the government has taken a practical step to remove these barriers and encourage more victims to come forward and seek justice without hesitation.
Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi said that female police officers are particularly well placed to handle sensitive cases such as domestic violence, harassment, abuse and family disputes with empathy, patience and understanding. She added that women officers often have a deeper awareness of the social and cultural realities faced by female complainants, which enables them to communicate more effectively and respond to their concerns with compassion and professionalism.
She further remarked that this initiative sends a strong and positive message to society that the daughters of Balochistan are capable of performing demanding and responsible duties beyond traditional domestic roles. She said that women standing shoulder to shoulder with their male colleagues in uniform symbolize progress, confidence and equality. Their active participation in maintaining law and order and protecting citizens’ rights reflects the changing social landscape of the province.
The Advisor lauded the vision and leadership of Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti, stating that the appointment of female police officers is a practical and meaningful step toward women’s empowerment rather than a symbolic gesture. She said that providing equal opportunities to women is a central pillar of the provincial government’s reform agenda and is essential for sustainable development, social justice and long term stability.
