India fears Trump may also bring Kashmir dispute to Board of Peace

LONDON: British media say that India fears that US President Donald Trump may also bring the Kashmir dispute to the Board of Peace.

British media reports said that President Donald Trump invited India to the Board of Peace for reconstruction in Gaza. The aim of the board is to establish a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas and monitor an interim government.

According to the report, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited but India was not present at the ceremony.

British media say that Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates accepted the membership, 59 countries signed the board, while 19 countries were represented at the ceremony.

According to British media reports, India’s decision to join the board or not could affect stability in West Asia and US relations. Trump may also bring the Kashmir dispute to the board tomorrow.

Former Indian Ambassador Akbaruddin says India should not join the Peace Board, the board may conflict with UN Resolution 2803.

The former Indian ambassador said the resolution mandates the board’s term to end on December 31, 2027 and that it must report every six months. By joining the board, India can become a source of validation of the board’s decisions. Monitoring Desk
