Another spell of rain, snowfall expected from next week, says chief meteorologist
ISLAMABAD: Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal on Monday predicts another spell of rain and snowfall from next week, with biting cold to grip the region for the next 15-20 days , after that a slight change in weather is expected.
Speaking to a local media channel, Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal said that typically, winters persist till January every year and this year is no exception.
“The current cold wave is expected to continue for the next 15-20 days, after which we will see a slight change in weather,” he added.
Another spell of rain and snowfall is expected from Sunday, with cloudy conditions setting in. The system is likely to peak from Monday to Wednesday, bringing more rain and snow to the region.
Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal said the upper half of the country will experience rain and cold weather from January 16 to 17.
Responding to a query, Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal stated that the last spell of the month is expected to hit Karachi from December 24 to 26.
Responding to another query, Chief Meteorologist Muhammad Afzal said that this year, mid-December has brought better snowfall compared to the same period last year.
Meteorologist had a word of caution for travelers, urging them to exercise extreme caution during the snow spell, especially those planning to travel to hilly areas.
“Roads are likely to get slippery, and visibility might be reduced, so it’s best to plan ahead and stay safe,” he advised, adding that it is always better to prioritize safety over reaching your destination quickly. APP
