Israel restarts aerial and artillery bombardment across Gaza
More than 100 Palestinian prisoners died in Israeli custody since October 2023: Report
GAZA: The Israeli army has restarted its aerial and artillery bombardment across part of Gaza, continuing violation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Wafa News Agency reported.
Recently, Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes on the town of Beit Lahia and the Maghazi refugee camp in northern and eastern areas of Gaza.
Israeli forces also hit central Gaza, where military vehicles opened heavy machine-gun fire east of Deir al Balah.
Israeli artillery also targeted the western part of Rafah city in southern Gaza, accompanied by gunfire targeting the eastern parts of the city.
A total of 32 detainees, including a child, died in Israeli custody in 2025, bringing the number of prisoners killed since the start of the current phase to more than 100, the Palestinian Information Centre reported, citing a report by rights groups.
In a joint report, the Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs, the Palestinian Prisoners Club and Addameer said dozens of Gaza detainees remain forcibly disappeared, and Israeli authorities are withholding the bodies of 94 prisoners.
The report also said testimonies and evidence indicate a deliberate policy of physical and psychological targeting of prisoners, including torture, starvation, denial of treatment and solitary confinement.
The groups recorded about 21,000 arrests in the occupied West Bank, including Jerusalem, since the start of what they describe as genocide, and more than 7,000 arrests this year alone, including 600 children and 200 women.
According to the report, 49 percent of prisoners are held without charge or trial, including 3,350 administrative detainees and 1,220 classified by Israel as “unlawful combatants”, alongside the continued administrative detention of dozens of children and women.
Meanwhile, The Israeli parliament has passed new legislation formally removing diplomatic immunity from the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, widely known as Unwra, the New York Times reported on Monday.
The Unrwa said that Israel is trying to discredit the agency, which provides education and health care to millions of Palestinians across the Middle East. Monitoring Desk
