Pakistan Army’s Bisma bags two gold medals at National Games in swimming
KARACHI: Pakistan Army’s Bisma Khan on Tuesday turned heads with her swimming skills, clinching two gold medals at the 35th National Games, underway until December 13.
Bisma won a gold apiece in individual and team discipline, making a significant contribution to Pakistan Army’s medal tally as the department leads the standings with 46 gold as of December 8.
Reflecting on her achievement, Bisma shared the hard work she put in to achieve double delight at the Games, stating that she had been preparing for a long time. “I study in America, and I swim there. My father is a coach. I have used 50, 100, 200 bags and a relay. It was good. It’s quite hot,” said Bisma in an interview. “I was preparing for this event for a long time. I wasn’t sure if I would make it to the National Games or not. “Preparation goes on all around the year round. So, I was invited by the team.”
Bisma further shared that she will be competing in three more disciplines over the next two days and was upbeat about making a record at the Games. “I have 50 free bags and 100 bags for tomorrow’s event. I have 200 bags for the third day,” Bisma continued. “I am hopeful [to make a record]. I have high hopes. Let’s see what happens.”
It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Army lead the 35th National Games medal table with 46 golds as of December 8, followed by Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) with 14 and Pakistan Navy with seven. Monitoring Desk
