Hadiqa, Ali Azmat to perform at National Games’ opening ceremony today

KARACHI: Renowned national artists Ali Azmat and Hadiqa Kiani will perform at the star-studded opening ceremony of the National Games, scheduled to be held here at the National Bank Stadium today (Saturday).

The development was confirmed by Sports Minister Sindh Sardar Muhammad Bakhsh Mahar, who visited the stadium alongside star athlete Arshad Nadeem and Sports Secretary Munawar Ali Mahesar to review the final preparations. Officials briefed the minister on arrangements inside and outside the venue, prompting Mahar to assure the public that all preparations for the ceremony had been completed.

“The preparations for the opening ceremony are complete,” Mahar stated, adding that both inside and outside the stadium, “foolproof security arrangements have been put in place.” “Bilawal Bhutto will come to Karachi and enjoy this event. Strict security arrangements have been made for his arrival,” he added.

Mahar also encouraged the public to participate in the glittering opening ceremony, which will also feature a “family musical event”, during which Kiani and Azmat are scheduled to perform. “I invite fans to come to the stadium tomorrow and enjoy the ceremony. At tomorrow’s concert, Ali Azmat and Hadiqa Kiani will perform,” Mahar stated. The minister also stressed that efforts were being made to have national heroes light the torch, though the final decision rested with the Pakistan Olympic Association.

Speaking to the media, Olympian Arshad Nadeem expressed his excitement over the event, calling it a proud moment for the metropolitan city and the province. “It is a great honour for the city to host the National Games. Sindh has received hosting rights after 18 years, which is wonderful to see. I hope events of this scale continue to take place in Pakistan.” Staff Report
