11 killed, 20 injured as two buses collide in Tamil Nadu
SIVAGANGA: As many as 11 persons were killed and over 20 injured today after buses collided head-on in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu
The accident took place on the Tirupattur-Karaikudi main road in Sivaganga district, about 423 km southwest of Chennai, the capital city of Tamil Nadu.
“One of the buses was travelling from Tirupur to Karaikudi, while the other was headed from Karaikudi towards Dindigul district,” a police official said.
Following the accident, local authorities carried out a massive rescue operation and ferried the injured to the nearest hospitals.
Police fear the death toll could increase, owing to the critical condition of some of the injured. Monitoring Desk
