PPP workers to cut cakes in ceremonies across country: Sharjeel
KARACHI: Sindh Senior Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit Sharjeel Inam Memon said that the Pakistan Peoples Party is going to complete 58 years on November 30.
Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, he said that ceremonies were being organized across the country, where PPP workers would cut cakes. The main ceremony will be addressed by Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, he added.
He said that digital screens would be installed at various locations nationwide, on which Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s address would be broadcast live so the public can directly witness the party’s 58-year struggle and services.
Sharjeel said that the sacrifices, achievements and services rendered by the Pakistan Peoples Party for the country were unparalleled in the world. He said that the world recognized that the foundation of Pakistan’s nuclear program laid by the Leader of the People, Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who, without caring for his life, made Pakistan a nuclear power, gave the country its first unanimous constitution, introduced the national identity card, and established numerous educational institutions across the country during his tenure.
He said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto provided Pakistan with missile technology and became a powerful voice for women, while President Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also rendered significant services for the country. He said that as Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto courageously presented the Kashmir issue in India; despite a bounty placed on his head, he did not back down.
He said that the PPP has always sacrificed for democracy, endured imprisonment, and given lives for the nation. The PPP has never changed its narrative; it has fought terrorism. He added that over the fifty-eight years of its existence, conspiracies and media trials have taken place, yet the PPP’s struggle has always been for the country and its people.
He further said that no political party in the world is providing 2.1 million free houses, whereas the Sindh government under the Pakistan Peoples Party is building these houses for flood victims and granting ownership rights to women. He said that Thar coal is producing the cheapest electricity in the country, a fact acknowledged by experts.
He said that foreign farmers were supported while Pakistani farmers were pushed into hardship, a situation against which Bilawal Bhutto raised their voice. APP
