Delegation of food exporters leaves for Malaysia

Exploring trade opportunities

LAHORE: A delegation of leading food exporters from South Punjab, led by Coordinator to Federal Tax Ombudsman Saif Ur Rehman departed for Malaysia on Sunday to explore avenues of collaboration and joint ventures in the rapidly growing food industry.

Saif Ur Rehman said the visit aims to strengthen bilateral trade relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, particularly in the sectors of food processing, packaging, and value-added products, including international-standard snacks. The visit has been organized with the support of trade promotion agencies and Pakistan’s Commercial Section in Kuala Lumpur to boost regional exports from South Punjab and attract Malaysian investment in modern food processing technologies.

He said the delegation, comprising representatives from major agro-based and food processing enterprises, will hold a series of meetings with Malaysian investors and importers. “We will focus on enhancing exports of ready-to-eat and processed snacks, which have already gained international recognition for their superior quality and taste,” he added.

Saif Ur Rehman said the visit would open new market opportunities and help establish long-term business partnerships. He noted that Malaysia’s growing demand for halal and organic food products aligns closely with Pakistan’s production capacity and expertise. Such initiatives, he emphasized, would help expand Pakistan’s export base, generate employment, and contribute to sustainable economic growth through increased trade. APP
