Fakhar signed, Ashwin goes unsold in first-ever ILT20 auction
DUBAI: Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman has been signed by Desert Vipers, while former Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin went unsold in the first-ever ILT20 auction for the upcoming fourth edition of the tournament, set to begin on December 2.
The left-handed batter was bought for a whopping $80,000, while UAE fast bowler Junaid Siddique fetched a massive $170,000 from Sharjah Warriors. Afghanistan pacer Naveen-ul-Haq was sold for $100,000 to MI Emirates. Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir, along with England pace legend James Anderson, remained unsold.
This will be Fakhar Zaman’s second stint with Desert Vipers, having previously represented the franchise in the third edition. In nine matches, he scored 222 runs at an average of 27.75 and a strike rate of 134.54, including two fifties. Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Haris and opening batter Saim Ayub went unsold in the auction, while West Indies hard-hitting batter Andre Fletcher was sold to MI Emirates for a whopping $260,000. Nearly 300 players from over 20 countries are registered for the auction, including marquee internationals, promising emerging talent, and regional players from Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Sports Desk
