PM holds informal meeting with US President Trump
Shehbaz attends GDI meeting chaired by Chinese Premier in NY
NEW YORK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with the US President Donald Trump in New York on Tuesday, Dunya News reported.
According to sources, both the leaders warmly shook hands and had an informal conversation in a pleasant atmosphere. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was also present during the meeting.
It is worth noting that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while speaking to the media in New York, said that the US President is a proponent of peace and wants to establish peace in the world.
Prime Minister further said that President Trump mentioned efforts for peace in his address to the General Assembly.
He said that President Trump and his team played an important role in the ceasefire between Pakistan and India. “We sincerely thank President Trump from the bottom of our hearts,” he added.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif participated in a high-level meeting in New York on the Global Development Initiative, chaired by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The session was held under the theme “Recommit to Our Original Aspirations, United to Build a Brighter Future for Development.”
On this occasion, the Prime Minister also engaged in an informal conversation with Premier Li Qiang. Additionally, he met with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres, who was present at the session.
The Prime Minister’s participation underscores the exemplary Pakistan-China friendship and the enduring strength of bilateral relations between the two countries.
It is pertinent to mention that during his visit to China last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had commended President Xi Jinping’s vision for the GDI, describing it as a pivotal step toward sustainable development at both regional and global levels. Monitoring Desk
