3 soldiers martyred, 17 injured in Fitna Alkhwarij ambush on FC fort in Hangu

PESHAWAR: Indian sponsored Fitna Alkhwarij’s ambush on a compound of the security forces in Hangu district of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has left at least three men in uniform martyred and 17 others seriously wounded on Monday.

While the terrorists managed to flee after committing the crime, the local Police claimed to have gunned down one of the facilitators of the attackers.

“At least three soldiers were martyred and 17 others were injured on Monday after terrorists attacked a Federal Constabulary fort in Torawari area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu,” officials said.

The deadly assault led to the martyrdom of at least three men in uniform who were identified as Naik Sadiq Hussain, Constable Abdul Ghaffar, and Constable Zewar Khan.

As many as 17 soldiers also sustained serious wounds during the attack and were shifted to the Doaba hospital where the condition of few troops was described as precarious. The Police claimed to have gunned down one of the terrorists’ facilitator in an encounter after he opened fire on the security personnel.

The security forces are reported to have kicked off a search operation in the area after the attack on the FC fort that continued till the filing of this report. However, the terrorists remained at large.

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur attended the funeral prayers of the martyrs at the FC Headquarters in Peshawar. Their coffins, draped in the national flag, were laid to rest with full honours, as floral wreaths were placed and prayers offered for their eternal peace. Inspector General of KP Police Zulfiqar Hameed, FC Commandant Nazir Gaara, the KP Chief Secretary, and other senior officials were also present.

Paying tribute to their sacrifice, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said: “The sacrifices of these valiant sons will never go in vain. Their courage is a beacon for the nation, and their families are our families. The people of Pakistan will forever remain indebted to them.” Together with CM Gandapur, he shouldered the coffins. Later, the Interior Minister and the CM Gandapur met with the bereaved families to offer condolences and assured them of the government’s full support.  Naqvi also visited the FC Hospital to inquire after Naib Subedar Kashif, who was injured in the attack, praising his bravery in confronting the militants.
