IGP orders cash rewards, certificates for 68 officers and personnel

LAHORE: A ceremony was held at the Central Police Office in honor of Punjab Police officers who were awarded the Sitara-i-Imtiaz by the Government of Punjab on Independence Day. IG Punjab congratulated the police officers on receiving the highest civil award. The award recipients include RPO Bahawalpur Rai Babar Saeed, DIG Technical Procurement Kamran Adil, DIG Traffic Punjab Waqas Nazir, CPO Rawalpindi Khalid Mehmood Hamdani, DPO Bahawalpur Hassan Iqbal, DPO Sheikhupura Bilal Zafar, and SSP Special Branch Moaz Zafar.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the officers who received the Sitara-i-Imtiaz demonstrated exceptional performance and bravery during the Maarka-e-Haq. The police officers were honored for their immediate response and effective coordination with Pakistan Armed Forces and other security agencies during the operation.
IG Punjab added that Punjab Police played a key role in preventing potential terrorist activities, ensuring the security of sensitive institutions and installations during the Maarka-e-Haq. Punjab Police also safeguarded the debris of missiles and drones fired by the enemy through timely response. At the Central Police Office, the names of the police officers who displayed outstanding performance during “Operation Bunyan al Marsoos” have been inscribed on a special wall.
Additional IG Punjab Sultan Ahmad Chaudhry, AIG Discipline Shaista Nadeem, AIG Admin Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi, along with other senior officers, attended the ceremony.
Moreover, Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar has issued orders for cash rewards and commendation certificates to encourage officers and personnel who demonstrated outstanding performance against anti-state and criminal elements.
Sharing details, the Punjab Police Spokesperson said that the IG Punjab has ordered the distribution of cash rewards worth Rs. 2.575 million and commendation certificates for 68 officers and personnel. Officers and personnel were awarded cash prizes ranging from Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 along with commendation certificates. Among the recipients of rewards are 15 Inspectors, 9 Sub-Inspectors, 11 ASIs, 15 Head Constables, and 18 Constables.
IG Punjab said that the officers and personnel performed their duties in an excellent manner for the maintenance of law and order and the protection of citizens’ lives and property. Officers and personnel imbued with the spirit of public service, dedication, and courage are the true asset of Punjab Police.
Punjab Police’s crackdown against proclaimed offenders wanted in heinous crimes and court absconders is ongoing. According to details, during the current year, as many as 89,372 proclaimed offenders have been arrested from across the province including Lahore. These include 30,610 A-category and 58,762 B-category proclaimed offenders. Similarly, more than 36,000 court absconders have also been arrested from across the province, among them 8,146 A-category and 27,884 B-category absconders. Punjab Police also arrested 18,492 habitual criminals, which include 7,176 A-category and 11,316 B-category habitual criminals. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, 18,726 proclaimed offenders, 14,263 court absconders, and 7,763 habitual criminals have been arrested.
Inspector General of Punjab Police commended the police teams for arresting proclaimed offenders and court absconders, while directing that the crackdown across the province against proclaimed offenders be continued with greater intensity. He emphasized that through close coordination with complainants and effective information sharing, dangerous criminals must be brought under the grip of law. RPOs and DPOs have been instructed to personally supervise operations for the arrest of dangerous proclaimed offenders.
