Navy conducts successful port security exercise in Karachi

KARACHI: Naval force successfully completed a two-day Port Security and Harbour Defence Exercise at Karachi and Port Qasim, aimed at strengthening maritime security.

The drill, held under the Navy’s Coastal Command, involved key agencies including the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Karachi Port Trust, and other law enforcement bodies.

The exercise focused on enhancing inter-agency coordination and tested the ability of the participating units to swiftly detect and neutralise potential threats to critical maritime infrastructure. Scenarios were designed to simulate high-pressure situations, ensuring readiness for rapid response in evolving threats.

Special emphasis was placed on real-time communication, joint situational awareness, and streamlined command-and-control mechanisms.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the primary goal was to secure early identification and effective mitigation of any maritime threats, safeguarding the flow of commercial activities through vital ports.

The successful exercise reaffirms the Navy’s commitment to safeguarding national maritime assets and ensuring the continued security of port operations.
