Pakistan-Afghan trade hits $1 billion mark in 2025

KABUL: Pakistan and Afghanistan trade volume has surged to $1 billion mark during the first half of fiscal year 2025.

According to statistics released by the Afghanistan Ministry of Industries and Trade, Afghanistan exported goods worth $277 million to Pakistan during the first half of fiscal year 2025 and Pakistan exported goods involving $712 million to Afghanistan.

Pakistan imported cotton, coal, raisins, fruits, and vegetables from Afghanistan, while Kabul imported food items, industrial equipment, and other goods from Pakistan.

A statement issued by the Afghanistan Embassy stated that Pakistan and Afghanistan are natural trade partners, but due to recent tensions between the two countries, Afghan traders have faced many difficulties and problems.

Afghanistan Embassy further stated that Pakistan should take measures to lower customs duties on border checkposts.

The Embassy suggested that some joint committees must be established to solve problems being faced by traders of both countries.

Afghan Embassy expressed complete satisfaction over reaching of trade volume of $1 billion during the first half of fiscal year 2025.–NNI
