Japan embassy gifts 166 books to COMSATS Abbottabad
ABBOTTABAD: To promote cultural understanding and academic collaboration, the Embassy of Japan in Pakistan, in partnership with the Nippon Foundation, donated 166 English-language books to COMSATS University Abbottabad Campus under the globally recognized “Read Japan Project.”
The donation ceremony, was graced by the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. WADA Mitsuhiro, who officially handed over the books to Professor Dr. Shahid Khattak, Director of COMSATS University Abbottabad Campus.
The books, carefully curated to provide deep insights into Japan, span topics such as the nation’s history, politics, economy, literature, philosophy, security, arts, and culture.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Mitsuhiro congratulated the faculty and students, expressing hope that the collection would not only enrich the university’s academic resources but also spark greater interest in Japanese studies among Pakistani youth.
“This gift symbolizes our lasting friendship,” said the Ambassador. “We believe these books will serve as a bridge between our two nations and contribute meaningfully to mutual understanding.”
He further commended COMSATS University for its vital role in educating Pakistan’s future generations and reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to strengthening educational and cultural partnerships.
Expressing gratitude, Dr. Shahid Khattak thanked the Japanese Embassy and Nippon Foundation for the generous gift, noting its value in boosting students’ global perspectives and enhancing bilateral relations.
Launched in 2008, the Nippon Foundation’s “Read Japan Project” aims to increase awareness and understanding of Japan by donating English-language books to universities and libraries across the world.—NNI
