Army deployed in Islamabad, given shoot-on-sight orders
ISLAMABAD: As protesters reached D-Chowk on Tuesday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has called on his supporters to remain resolute in their protests, urging them to continue until the party’s demands are met.
In a statement shared via his official X account, Khan commended PTI workers and the Pakistani nation for their peaceful demonstrations, describing them as a stand for “real freedom” against a “mafia” controlling the country.
“I salute the Pakistani nation and PTI workers for standing up for their rights and protesting peacefully in the face of the mafia imposed on this country. Fight until the last ball—we will not back down until our demands are fulfilled,” Khan said. He called on all Pakistanis to join the movement, emphasizing its importance for the nation’s survival and independence.
“All protesters must remain peaceful, united, and steadfast. This is a struggle for Pakistan’s survival and true freedom,” he added.
Meanwhile, four personnel of Rangers embraced martyrdom while five others and police personnel sustained seriously injuries when miscreants rammed a vehicle into them at Srinagar Highway in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to security sources, , four personnel of Rangers and two of police have been martyred so far in attacks on law enforcement agencies by PTI miscreants. Over 100 police officials have also been injured and many of them sustained severe injuries, they further said.
The security sources said that under Article 245 of the constitution, Army has been summoned to deal with the miscreants and troublemakers with iron hands. Shoot at sight orders have also been issued, they said.
The security sources further said that all necessary measures were being taken to deal with anarchists and miscreants in response to any act of terrorism.
On the other hand, the government has deployed Pakistan Army in Islamabad under Article 245 of the Constitution to assist civil authorities in maintaining law and order amid escalating violence in the city.
Security sources said early on Tuesday that the deployment follows incidents of attacks on law enforcement agencies.
Orders have been issued to deal with anarchists and miscreants with an iron hand, with clear directives to shoot such elements on sight.
Meanwhile, miscreants rammed a vehicle into Rangers personnel on the Srinagar Highway in Islamabad, resulting in the martyrdom of four Rangers officials. Five others, including Rangers and police officials, sustained serious injuries.
Two police officers have been martyred in similar attacks. Over 100 police personnel have also been injured, with many in critical condition in various areas since the PTI launched its protest march on Islamabad. Monitoring Desk
